CONSERVATION

Indialantic was was designated a bird sanctuary in 1975 by a Town Council proclamation. The Town has taken measures to protect its abundance of animal species and plant life. We also support the bird water sanctuary in Orlando Park, Wekiva Camp, the Brevard Zoo, Keep Brevard Beautiful, and the Marine Resources Council for their ongoing Indian River Lagoon Conservation efforts. Nearly all of our efforts this past year were dedicated to building Lily Park which contains a beautiful native plant garden and has a QR code, used with a smart phone, to lead visitors to this website for help identifying the plants.

We encourage everyone to connect with the migratory bird dashboard to learn what birds are flying overhead at any given point. Because the town is a bird sanctuary and popular spot for migratory birds, a water source was installed in Orlando Park to help our feathery friends to have water when they rest.

Always catch The Seaside Gardener, issued monthly, for the latest in how to prep your garden for that month. Keep this great resource on how to add life to your soil.
