2022 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

LILY PARK: Completed a 3-Phase Strategic Plan of the revitalization of Lily Park, including the installation of a Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marke, a 25 foot hurricane ready flagpole, a new copper top on the gazebo and more. A lovely ceremony was held to honor those who have served and names of service men and women past and present were announced as part of the dedication. Our club was recognized by National Garden Clubs, Inc. for this effort with three awards.

Combat Veterans Association and GCBS members raised the American flag and the POW flag for the first time at Lily Park on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday May 28, 2021.

Continued the sale of Lily Park brick pavers for scholarship funds.

Received the Keep Brevard Beautiful "We Noticed!' Award for Lily Park.

GRANTS: Received a $1000 "Plant America" grant from National Garden Clubs, Inc. and a matching $500 grant from Florida Federation of Garden Clubs.

Received KBB grant to implement a Quick Response Digital Matrix Barcode Code at Lily Park for the identification of plants, trees and butterflies.

HONORIFICS: Received a proclamation from the Honorable Mayor Dave Berkman proclaiming May 12, 2021 "Garden Club by the Sea Day"

FUNDRAISING: Hosted a plant sale & successful fundraiser which netted $5,380 profit.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Awarded scholarships to Aliya Monroe and Dylan DeLuccia for their higher education studies in horticulture

SPONSORSHIPS: Continued sponsorship of Serene Harbor Domestic Violence Center, the Orlando Park bird water sanctuary, Wekiva Camp, the Brevard Zoo and FFGC's annual convention. Continued our support and yearly donation to Marine Resources Council for their ongoing Indian River Lagoon Conservation efforts.

MEMBERS: Maintained the website with information for our members on projects, finances, and monthly updates. Continued to publish “News Vine” our GCBS newsletter with monthly membership updates, reminders, and horticulture information.

COMMUNITY: Continued to issue our monthly GCBS Community Beautification Award to area homeowners and local businesses.
